WHAT TO EXPECT

If you are Spanish-English bilingual and are interested in becoming a translator/interpreter for an educational setting, then we want to help you reach that goal! We will assess your skill levels and share areas of strength and needed growth.  We have a 5-part course to introduce you to educational translations and interpretation services.    


Part 1: Understanding school systems and the role you play as a translator/interpreter. What it means to translate versus interpret in a school setting.

Part 2:  Ethics and Standards

  • The role of confidentiality.

Part 3:  Legislation and Regulations

Part 4:  Translation Best Practices

  • Translation process and file management
  • What to do when you have questions about the English content

Part 5:  Interpretation Best Practices

  • Consecutive vs. Simultaneous
  • Prior to the meeting or event

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you are already working as a translator/interpreter for a school district, program, or government agency and would like to grow your skills, then our 5-Part Module will review best practices and address common issues that you may be facing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you and/or your team work with a Translator or Interpreter and are not sure how best to navigate those needs then this 4-Part Module is for you.  For school districts, this is vitally important for those working in special education.  The legal requirements that need to be met mean there are specific processes that should be followed.
